APL: Employer in Three Regions

Landau in the Palatinate, Wolfsburg and Bietigheim-Bissingen were very consciously chosen as locations for APL. All three cities offer clear advantages for both employees and customers.

As the metropolis of Southern Palatinate with approximately 45,000 inhabitants, Landau is a lively university town with many young people. The Palatinate people are very sociable and Landau is known for great events like the Landau Summer or various wine festivals. The town also has a lot to offer in other respects: the impressive art nouveau festival hall with numerous events, a town centre that invites you to stroll around and, of course, surroundings that are characterised by nature and vineyards. Landau and its eight districts are located in one of the largest wine-growing areas in Germany, mainly due to the mild climate.

Landau is ideal as a place to live for young families because of its rural idyll, countless leisure facilities – such as the zoo, swimming pools and local recreation areas – and a wide range of schools and daycare centres.

The Rhine-Neckar region and the Karlsruhe metropolitan area can be reached quickly, which is also a great advantage for APL customers.

Wolfsburg has about 125,000 inhabitants and is very centrally located between Hanover and Berlin. The modern city offers a wide range of cultural and leisure activities. Whether congress park, municipal theatre, Allersee lake, bathing area or ice skating stadium: residents of all ages find variety here. You can go shopping with the whole family at the City Gallery and outlet centre, and marvel at scientific experiments in the “phæno” science centre.

For many people, Wolfsburg is inseparably linked to the automotive industry. The city is very productive and the density of engineers is extremely high. Not only does Wolfsburg have the highest gross domestic product per inhabitant, it also has the highest number of employees working in future-oriented industries.

The city is ideally positioned in terms of transport technology – due to a dense network of roads and motorways, rail transport and Germany’s longest artificial waterway.

Nature of Bietigheim





Bietigheim-Bissingen is located near Ludwigsburg, Stuttgart and Heilbronn and is surrounded by rolling hills, forests and vineyards. The town itself is just as impressive as its surroundings. The city centre has grown historically and is predominantly medieval. The town hall (built in 1507), the Latin school and the Hornmoldhaus town museum are definitely worth mentioning. The latter is one of the most important Renaissance buildings in the whole of southern Germany. It’s also comprised of the three buildings that give the town centre its unmistakable appearance. But there is much more to see and admire — for example the New Palace, the walk-in city wall, the Japanese garden and the many sculptures by important sculptors.

But Bietigheim-Bissingen offers its 43,000 inhabitants not only a lot of history and culture. It also boasts numerous restaurants, cafés and wine taverns. The town is the ideal place to live for families, as there are plenty of shopping and sports facilities, several kindergartens and schools for all ages.

As a well-known industrial location in the middle Neckar region, Bietigheim-Bissingen has enormous residential and leisure value.
